- About the Library
- Do you have only English children's books? If so, why?
Yes, we do. We have some children's books in French (i.e., Tintin books), but very little.
We are focusing our efforts to follow the Mission of the Library, by providing the children with a best collection of English literature.
Maybe we could expand our collection into other than English literature in the future.
- What does it mean by the Won in the library name?
The Won, literally meaning the circle image in Korean, symbolizes the true Il-Won, or Dharmakaya in another form or term, and "is
a model for teaching the true Il-Won. It is like pointing at the moon with your finger: your finger is not the real moon." (excerpted from
the Scriptures of Won-Buddhism, ISBN:89-8076-100-7)
We employ the term and the symbol as well, as a way to implicit a part of the Mission of the Library;
one exists as the others exist -- "a true form of appreciation of the diversities".
Readers who are interested further in the term are encouraged to read the forementioned or related books.
- Is the library a religious organization of which primary goal is to perform the missionary work?
No, it is not. The objective of our library is clear and stated out in the Mission. We do and will operate the library only to
implement the Mission.
- Is the library public? Or have you benefited a govermental type of fund?
No, "so far" the library has been privately owned and operated.
We have not received any type of governmental fund or aid, and no plan for it.
The library is open to the Library Members only. Please find out
how you could be a member today.
- About the Library Hompage
- Sometimes I can't reach the library homepage. Do you know why?
Well. There might be many reasons that might cause the problem.
If you are sure that your computer is running okay and the network connection stays put,
the problem might be a bit complicate to find out.
Since 2010 Aug, we have been running our web server at a Web hosting company outside the library.
As long as we are concerned, the company provides a steady and solid network connection to everyone, everywhere.
So probably the problem would be near by your computer, we think.
- What about the email that I sent you?
Sometimes we may be neglect to check the email sent to us. Please bear some time with us. As long as the email arrives fine
at us, we will return to you. If you think your email might be spam-filtered out, please exploit an old-gear to reach us, just ring the phone :)
- Location
- I'm not familiar with the location. Where is Pyeongchon?
Pyeonchon refers to a newly-developed(early 90's) region of Anyang, Gyeonggi-Do. It is located south-west to Seoul, and
its north border city is Gwachon, i.e, if heading south from Seoul, Pyeongchon is right next to Gwachon.
It has two Seoul Metro Subway (Blue Line 4) stations, Pyeonchon and Bumgye. The library is located in 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from
Pyeongchon Station. Note that Anyang Station is located at 'old' downtown of Anyang, and quite far from Pyeonchon.
- Is the parking space ample enough?
Well, we would rather say that the situation is quite similar to other apartment complex you could find in Seoul metro area.
It is not ample enough of course, but you could find some available parking spots at daytime. The parking is not as diffcult as it is in downtown or Kangnam of Seoul.
The parking is free, but please keep in mind that you should inform an apartment security of your visiting apartment unit.
- Library Hours
- Do you open at weekend?
Please find out the current library hours at here.
- Fee or Money
- Do you charge any membership fee?
No, we do not. Exactly speaking, not so far. We are currently developing a guideline of the credit and the check-out policies,
which are all related to the membership and the membership fee as well.
Checking out
- Can I check a book out of the library?
Yes. A member with enough "credits" may check out a certain number of books.
- Can I borrow a DVD out of the library?
It depends on the DVD. Some DVDs (such as the ones tagged with HR) may have the copyright problems, and they can't be checked out of the library.
- What should I do if the borrowed books are damaged during the checkout period?
There will be a "reasonable" amount of fine, so that we can fix or compensate the damage.
- What if I lost the checkout book?
You can either get us a same quality of the same book, or donate us the money so that we purchase the same book or
another book in similar domain and of the same quality. Please note that the bottomline of our reaction would be to
continue to operate the library, not to make any financial profit out of it.
Others
- Is there any other children's library in Seoul Metro area?
Yes, there are a number of, although many of them have few or small collections of English books.
Among some libraries that have quite number of English children's books, we'd refer the following two:
one is Anyang Children's Library, Pyeongchon, and the other is the National Library for Children & Young Adults, Kangnam-gu, Seoul.
They both are public libraries. Please find out more information by
visiting their web sites (http://child.anyanglib.or.kr, http://www.nlcy.go.kr/english/).
1,2,3 We borrowed and edited the descriptions about the Medal Awards from the their home pages.
Can't find out what you wanted to? Please ask us and learn more on
our library, children's books, or other related topics. We always appreciate your inquiry and interest !
