How to Become a Library Member

• The children and their parents who would agree and follow to the philosophy and the operation terms of the library can be the members. We kindly ask you to have a moment to read the Mission of our library, to understand us more.
• According to our mission, we are focusing our effort on such children who can read English, by letting them read more and better English literature. Due also to our limited resource, we currently limit the library membership only to the children who are capable to read English. To make it easier to judge whether a child can read English, we have a following yardstick :
  • a child who has lived more than one year in a English speaking country during the last two years, or educated for more than six months during the last one year at any form of an academic institute in a English speaking country;
  • a child who can demonstrate her or his English reading skill to us; in this category we usually have a reading test -- let the child read a book and speak of it to us whileafter;
  • if a child is equal to or younger than 8yrs(¸¸), at least one of her or his parents should always be a visit-companion to the library. If a child is equal to or older than 9yrs(¸¸), he or she can visit the library alone, although we strongly encourage a child's parent to come together.
  • Please note and also understand that we continue our effort to make the yardstick more generous so that we may encourage and benefit more children in the future. Please find out how you can contribute on this.
• A library member can read a book and watch/listen to DVDs/CDs during the library hours. A member with enough "credits" may also check out a certain number of books. Due to the copyright problems, however, some DVDs (tagged HR) shall not be lended out to the members.
• We will publish the yearly SLWCL Books in which you can find out all the members of the library.

• Become a Sponsor : You may be a part of our efforts by making a donation. Your donation will go directly into the Libray Account which is used to maintain and expand our library.
• Become a Member : A simple and easy way to support our effots is to become a member of the Library. The children and their parents who would agree and follow to the philosophy and the operation terms of the library can be the members.
• Become a Book Contributor : You may participate in our efforts by donating us your used or new children's books. Please keep in mind that the library accomodates English books only.
• Become a Library Volunteer : You may volunteer your language skills to read books for children or share your times to take care of the children who would need attention in any kind from a grown-up.
